DAY 1 Fly to Sydney and Board the Columbus

Today, fly into Sydney, where you will be personally met at the airport by a HolidayMax representative and transferred from the airport to spectacular Sydney Harbour. Board Columbus and settle into your cabin before exploring the range of on board facilities on this luxurious cruise ship. Head out onto the deck as you set sail, passing beneath the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge.

DAY 2 – 3 At Sea

DAY 4 Explore Whitsundays (Airlie Beach)

Airlie Beach is picture-postcard-perfect with its backdrop of gently sloping verdant hills, complimented by the crystal clear azure ocean and the world famous Great Barrier Reef. It feels as tropical as staying on an island, but with the added conveniences of a modern mainland township. This compact regional centre is easy to explore. DAY 5 At Sea

Leaving the breathtaking beauty of the Whitsundays behind you, cruise north along the iconic Great Barrier Reef, while taking in the beautiful views of the Coral Sea in all its splendour. Join the fitness team on the Sun Deck for a jog or walk or even a game of deck chess. Relax by the pool with a good book and a refreshing cocktail if you prefer something more laid back. DAY 6 Explore Cairns (Yorkeys Knob)

North of Cairns, Yorkeys Knob is a coastal suburb and part of Cairns Northern suburbs. The region is set against a backdrop of World Heritage Rain Forests, overlooking the natural wonder of the Great Barrier Reef.

DAY 7 – 9 At Sea

Madang, located on the north-eastern coast of Papa New Guinea and just shy of the equator, is a land of contrasting beauty. The perfect blue waters are a diver’s paradise, with amazing clarity and visibility.

DAY 11 – 16 At Sea

DAY 17 Explore Yokohama (Japan)

Japans second largest city is a bustling city of 3.7 million and is located just half an hour south of its big sister city Tokyo. Devasted by the allied airstrikes during World War II, Yokohama rebuilt and grew rapidly into the modern, cosmopolitan city it is today. The many parks and ornate botanical gardens and the well preserved Japanese residences of Sankei-en Garden emanates a sense of relaxation and long held tradition amidst the energy and bright lights of a modern city. The word Yokohama means “horizontal beach”, from the horizontal sandbar the original fishing village once stood on. 

Arrive into Yokohama at 7am for a full day in Japan setting sail again at 7pm. You can spend a memorable day exploring Yokohama or perhaps take an optional tour to Mount Fuji & Hakone National Park or Tokyo, Kyoto and Kagoshima .

DAY 18 At Sea

Sailing towards the next port of call, Kagoshima, take some time to relax and reset after your visit to the bustling city of Yokohama. DAY 19 Explore Kagoshima (Japan)

On the banks of Kagoshima Bay, the seaside city of Kagoshima sits in the shadows of an active volcano only a short 4km across the bay. Sakurajima stands at 1117 metres tall, on a daily basis it emits smoke and has minor eruptions. In spite of this, Kagoshima is a thriving city full of character, Japanese tradition, history and natural beauty, affectionately known as the “Naples of the Eastern world” for its many similarities to the Italian city and has been voted Japans friendliest city. Ornate gardens and traditional architecture highlight Kagoshimas rich culture and long held traditions.

Arrive into Yokohama at 7am for a full day in Japan setting sail again at 8pm. Perhaps take an optional tour to experience Japanese tradition Chiran Samurai Houses & Peace Museum or bravely venture to Sakurajima.

DAY 20 – 21 At Sea

As you set sail leaving Kagoshima, take in the beauty and contrasting landscape. The towering, active volcano reaches high into the clouds and is an iconic symbol of Kagoshima and a perfect backdrop for a photograph. Spend the next couple of days onboard, cruising the East China Sea and Yellow Sea towards the next port of call, Tianjin, China.

DAY 22 Explore Beijing (Tianjin, China)

At the Foot of the Yanshan Mountain, in the north east of China, Beijing is a mega city with a population of 21.5 million people. Beijing's architecture is an interesting mix of European influence, traditional Chinese design and ultra modern skyscrapers. The city is constantly evolving while holding on to its strong traditional values and rich heritage. UNESCO has recognized 6 heritage sites such as the Forbidden City and Chinese Imperial Palace. Beijing's future aspirations is to evolve into an eco-friendly city.

Arrive into Tianjin at 6am for a full day in China setting sail again at 5pm. You can spend a fantastic day exploring Tianjin or perhaps take an optional tour to see The Great Wall & Beijing Sights or board a bullet train to the Forbidden City.

DAY 23 - 24 At Sea

Reflect on your journey so far as you spend the next couple of days traversing the Chinese coast between Beijing and Shanghai. The perfect mix of modern architecture and Chinese tradition and culture, China’s history is measured not in centuries, but in millennia. Spend the next couple of days unwinding in the many leisure areas on board, perhaps learn a new craft in the Crafters Studio.

DAY 25 Explore Shanghai (China)

On the banks of the Yangtze River, Shanghai is home to 24 million people and a major global financial centre. DAY 26 – 27 At Sea
