Dotted with Roman amphitheatres, Crusader castles and colourful Christian mosaics, the undisputed jewel in the crown of this quintessential Middle Eastern destination is the ancient Nabataean city of Petra, an incredible spectacle carved into the pink hued sandstone of a narrow desert valley back in 300 B.C.

Jordan’s exotic beachside town of Aqaba glories in an idyllic, sunny setting on the shores of the Red Sea, at the country’s southernmost tip. It has been an important trading port since 1500 BC and has some of the best diving and snorkelling in the world centred on the unspoiled coral reefs that hug the coast.

Perhaps experience the ancient city of Petra - one of the most spectacular archaeological sites in the world. Half-built, half-carved into rock and surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. Dating back to 300 BC, Petra lies between the Dead Sea and Red Sea. It’s easy to see why visitors fall in love with this enchanting beach city filled with remarkable architecture and a boundless cultural scene. Recognised as one of the most attractive cities in Europe, the Catalan capital has a cosmopolitan international vibe. There is so much to do and see - museums, the 'Old Town', art galleries, sun-drenched beaches, incredible cafes and some of the best shopping in Europe. The renewed Park Guell features the spectacular quirky design typical of Anton Gaudi all with panoramic city views.

Barcelona's architectural treasures span 2000-plus years, but many of its more modern additions are it’s most famous. The Modernisme movement and Antoni Gaudí’s has greatly influenced the face of Barcelona architecture. Barcelona’s bright light and mood has also long inspired artists, including Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró (with major museums here devoted to their works).

You’ll savour mealtime. Seville is Spain at its most iconic - from the whitewashed houses and bougainvillea alleyways of Santa Cruz to the intimate flamenco clubs of charismatic Triana; where orange trees line the streets, sun dapples the plazas and bustling tapas bars abound. The Gothic Seville Cathedral with its famed Giralda bell tower overlook the city’s historic centre; a seductive mix of resplendent Mudéjar palaces and winding medieval laneways. Perhaps admire the spectacular Gothic Cathedral at Saint Mary of the Sea, before exploring the charming streets and patios of the historic Jewish Quarter. Lisbon has been crafted over centuries; find vibrant pastel-coloured buildings, deep-rooted traditions, ancient archaeological treasures and white-domed cathedrals. A city of enchanting contrasts; where modern metropolitan flair mixes with architectural glamour and Gothic fortitude, as terra-cotta-roofed homes, striking street art, gleaming basilicas, local tascas and antique streetcars tumble down the steep, cobbled alleyways towards the glistening Rio Tejo.

Iconic landmarks in Lisbon abound - including the 16th-century Jerónimos monastery, the Monument to the Discoveries, the Belém Tower, Carcavelos Beach, the National Palace, Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, Museu do Oriente, Ajuda Av.
