DAY 7 Explore Bergen (Norway)

Welcome to sophisticated Scandinavia and to Norway, laced in ancient Viking history and stunning natural environments. This cruise is all about our voyage through the famously jaw-dropping Norwegian fjords and the unbelievable coastal waterways. You’ll experience some of the very best that Norway has to offer.

The UNESCO World Heritage listed town of Bergen, is set against a backdrop majestic, snow capped mountains, on Norway’s south west coast. Bergen is the ideal balance of culture, nature and urban living and is the gateway to the fjords. The harbour, dotted with colourful wooden buildings is the heart of the city for hundreds of years and the residents are proud of their strong cultural identity. The charm of the town, blue glaciers and powerful waterfalls is just the start of what Bergen has to offer and with a history going back to the 1300’s, it isn’t just the scenery that draws people in.

Arrive into Bergen at 12pm for a day of exploration setting sail again at 6pm. You can spend an incredible day exploring Bergen or take an optional tour like: Troldhaugen & Fantoft or Bryggen & Mount Fløien Funicular.

DAY 8 Cruise Storfjorden & Explore Hellesylt-Geiranger

Cruise through the incredible Storfjorden fjord and then sail the 26-kilometre length of the fjord branch of Sunnylvsfjorden. The splendid village of Hellesylt is set against dramatic mountains at the head of the Sunnylvsfjorden.

This is the perfect launching pad to reach the mighty Briksdal glacier, part of the Jostedalsbreen Glacier National Park. The wild glacier drops from a height of 1200m right down into the narrow, fertile Briksdalen.

Perhaps discover the glorious World Heritage Geirangerfjord. The deep blue UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord is surrounded by majestic, snow-covered mountain peaks, wild waterfalls and lush, green vegetation. Impressive waterfalls cast cascades of thundering water from almost vertical mountain sides.

Journey over the Stryn mountains, passing stunning lakes to reach the 1500m high Mount Dalsnibba.

Maybe visit the thrilling Land of the Trolls. See the mighty Hellesylt Waterfall and the majestic Sunnylvsfjorden. Venture along the Norddalsfjord to the fertile valley of Valldal, take in the spectacular Gudbrand gorge before ascending up the mountain, experience magnificent views of Isterdalen Valley, descend to the Trollstigen road and admire Geiranger’s stunning waterfalls.

Arrive into Hellesylt at 9am for an incredible full day in setting sail again at 7pm. You can spend an exciting day exploring Copenhagen or perhaps take one of the many optional tours.

DAY 9 Cruise Sognefjord & Explore Flåm

Cruise through a fjord wonderland today as we sail down one of Norway’s most renowned waterways through Sognefjord, then to the end of Aurlandsfjorden to of Flåm, with it’s famous steep mountain railway.

Characterised by a dramatic landscape of steep mountains, magnificent waterfalls and narrow valleys. The town of Flåm, nestled in the south west of Norway is breathtakingly beautiful, with snow-capped mountains, soaring above jewel tones of the blue and teal water below. The village is reminiscent of a simpler time, with beautiful and colourful wooden buildings as well as farms clinging to the side of the mountains. The Stegastein Veiwpoint, 650m above Aurlandsfjord offers uninterrupted panoramic views of this unforgettable region.

Arrive into Flåm at 9am for a full day in Norway setting sail again at 7pm. You can spend a memorable day seeing the sites of Flåm or join an optional tour like: Gudvangen Viking Village & Tvinde Waterfall or hop aboard the iconic Flåm railway.

DAY 10 Explore Stavanger

This preserved 12th-century town is full of history and is Norway’s vibrant energy capital with an international feel and fascinating street art scene. It’s the perfect location to explore the extraordinary Preikestolen (swords in the rock monument) renowned as the overhanging pulpit and the spectacular Lysefjord.

Stavanger, bordering the beautiful fjord of Boknafjorden, is beautifully preserved ancient town full of characterful wooden houses, cobbled streets and 12th-century cathedral. Explore the cosmopolitan restaurants, bars and shops or maybe the fascinating cultural museums or the beautiful harbour. Relax into the contemporary Scandinavian lifestyle.

Perhaps experience one of Norway’s most recognisable images – the overhanging pulpit of Preikestolen to capture a picture like no other, and Stavanger Archipelago, off Norway’s atmospheric coastline. Take a spectacular boat ride to Lysefjord, with abundant wildlife to admire the rugged landscapes. Take in the unforgettable panoramas at Preikestolen, with it’s breathtaking cliff rising dramatically above the fjord, jutting out almost precariously.

Maybe visit the ancient site of King Harald Fairhair’s battle Hafrsfjord. See the impressive 'Sverd i Fjell' — a monument commemorating the infamous 872 clash which united the kingdom of Norway. Symbolising peace, unity, and freedom, you’ll admire the monument’s three bronze swords rising 10m from the ground. Explore the area of Hafrsfjord.

Arrive into Stavanger at 12pm for a full day in Norway setting sail again at 6pm. You can spend a memorable day exploring Stavanger or join an optional tour.
