DAY 13 Hue to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City)

This morning we embark on a captivating journey to explore the monument to Emperor Minh Mang, gracefully positioned on the west bank of the Perfume River. We discover an architectural masterpiece set in a deep green tropical forest with a sparkling lake - the solemn mood and splendid landscape create a unique setting. Next, we immerse ourselves in the marvel of Emperor Khai Dinh monument. Infused with a synthesis of Asian and European architectural styles, it captivates with its intricate construction, elaborate decorations and attention to detail.

We indulge in a delicious lunch at a local restaurant before our flight to Ho Chi Minh City - still affectionately referred to as Saigon by the locals. Today we unveil the secrets and stories of Saigon. Explore bustling markets, savor unforgettable street food and enjoy free-time to lose yourself in the captivating energy of a city on the rise. We begin on an emotional journey to explore the historic Cu Chi tunnels — 200kms of sprawling underground labyrinth that once served as a lifeline for Viet Cong soldiers during intense combat. Delve into the rich history of this intricate network, witnessing its role as a hideout, communication route, hospital, weapons factory and kitchen. Learn about the construction of these tunnels before a unique opportunity to crawl through a section, providing a visceral experience of the oppressive narrowness and heat within.

After our delicious lunch, we return to Saigon, ready to delve into a captivating city tour. In the middle of the river, the lush greenery of Thoi Son Islet invites reflection amidst its orchards and traditional villages.
